NOTE 1 The unit for wave number is cm-1. In terms of this unit, the wave number is the reciprocal of the wavelength, l ( where l is expressed in cm).
NOTE 2 The wave number is normally used as the X-axis unit of an IR spectrum. [adapted from ASTM-E-131]
