I-Branch is born!

Following the strong recommendation from the European Space Industry, the ECSS decided to create a new branch in the ECSS system. The new I-branch covers Industrialization, production and maintenance. This new branch is added to the 4 existing branches e.g. M (Management), Q (Quality and Product Assurance), E (Engineering, and U (Sustainability).

The architecture is depicted here below:

Working group was set up to handle this new Branch. This working group is lead by Eurospace representatives (Guillaume Roelly (Airbus DS) and Johnny Lebeaupin (Arianegroup) acting as deputy) and involving Agency representatives (ESA and CNES), Eurospace  and other Industry representatives (Beyond Gravity, GMV, OHB, SENER and Thales Alenia Space).

Short term activities are on-going aiming at

  • preparing a roadmap with the list of existing standards to be adopted or adapted
  • performing a Gap Analysis on missing content and recommendations
  • anticipating the future steps of the implementation and future drafting of non-existing standards.
